four more

I’ve done pretty well with the January photo-a-day challenge and I’m really looking forward to February’s {even though I’m just now posting the last four days worth of photos}.

Lee and I took in an early movie and saw Contraband.  Can you really go wrong with a few hours of Mark Wahlberg?  Afterward, we headed to his 5 year old cousin’s birthday party.  This kid has so many toys and he loves to save money so I thought it would be best {for his parents’ sanity} to give him some cash.  Since he’s so young, he doesn’t quite understand that one $20 bill is worth more than five $1’s so Lee was sent on a mission to get some singles.  Needless to say, he received strange looks.  The day flew by and before I knew it the sun was already setting and I was getting ready to miss out on daylight.  I took this picture on our way home.  As everyone says, Instagram makes just about anything look good.

28: light

Sunday rolled around and regardless of getting a late start, we had a productive day catching up on random chores that we’ve been putting off.  My evening was finished off with family time at my parents’ watching the SAG awards.
No judging based on my fridge picture please.  We like to drink: soda, beer, champagne, boxed wine.  We like to eat: out {but I really do try to cook often!}.

29: inside your fridge

The past two days have been a blur.  Work has been NUTS and I’m currently dealing with one issue that has been going on since Friday evening at 5pm {yes, Friday evening at 5pm…no one wants to deal with issues at that time}.  After a crazy Monday, I was so happy that we had dinner plans with the Shuler’s.

The 30th’s “nature” photo is not too nature-y but there sure is a cute picture of Lucy.  I love that girl.

30: nature {and a goose}

And this?  This.  This is what I looked like when I got home this evening.  After a 90 minute commute to work, work issues all day, and a 45 minute drive home, this is me.  Rough.  And goofy.  My makeup is nonexistent because apparently I don’t know how to not touch my face when I stress.

31: you, again

I’m off to the Woodlands tomorrow morning.  Here’s hoping it doesn’t take two hours to get there!

26 & 27

It’s a slow moving Saturday morning and that’s just how I like it.  Since I haven’t posted photos the last two days, I thought I’d multitask while catching up on American Idol’s Houston auditions.  Good grief.  So far, the first guy is not making Houston proud.

My photo from the 26th is of my new Sharpie Pens.  New office supplies thrill me and as soon as Ashley told me she was ordering some for herself, I had to follow her lead.  When Sharpie Pens first came out, they only had primary colors but these are pretty and girly.  Perfect to use in my Life Planner 🙂

After years of declaring that sushi was gross {without actually trying it}, I now crave it weekly.  My co-workers and I frequent Oishii since it’s just down the street from our current office but we’ll be moving soon so we had to get our fix this week.

27, lunch

This afternoon we’re headed to a birthday party at one of those bouncy house places.  You have no idea how much fun I’m going to have!

hanging in there

Hanging in there.  Story of my life these days.  Why do I always feel as though there is never enough time?  Tonight I have a long over due haircut appointment with my sister, Friday we’re having friends over for dinner so that leaves tomorrow evening to clean and shop for Friday.  Perhaps I’m not managing my time wisely? Perhaps.

On with the photo{s} of the day{s}…

Nothing is better than a cold coke straight out of a cold refridgerator poured over ice in a plastic cup.  Before I know it, my cup is empty.

24, guilty pleasure

While browsing Pinterest and looking for brunch ideas, I found a recipe for Red Velvet Whoopie Pies.  I love red velvet and anything that is miniature immediately demands my attention.  Not to mention the pies in her picture are heart shaped!  Heart shaped red velvet?  Sold!  My first attempt at these pretty little things was not too bad.  The cookies were the perfect texture and help up quite nicely when the sandwiches were made.  My only issue is with the cream cheese frosting; this recipe was a tad too cheesy for my liking.  Enter Ashley.  After a quick email this morning soliciting her help, I had a new recipe in no time!  I can’t wait to have the finished product in a few weeks 🙂

Playing Catch Up

This weekend has proved that blogging is a} hard to do over the weekend and b} not something I want to do over the weekend.  So that brings me to today – catch up on photo-a-day Monday!

Saturday the 21st, I just did not feel like taking a photo of myself and blasting it on the internet.  The morning was spent grocery shopping and prepping for dinner and once I finally decided to slap some makeup on my face, James and Ashley were knocking on the door begging for fried shrimp! {I kid…but they were just around the corner I’m sure}  We had a fantastic evening full of fried goodness, boxed wine {no judging} and Maker’s Mark.  Fun was had all around!

After our oh so fun Saturday evening, I had a not so fun Sunday morning that got a slow start.  Once I mustered up the energy to drag myself out of bed and get dressed for the day, I finally took photos for 21 and 22.  Nothing fancy, just enough to get the job done.

22, your shoes

Lee and I spent the day shopping for furniture and accessories for the house but didn’t walk away with anything but a few boring household items.   We’re in the market for new living room furniture and picking sofas is proving to be very difficult.  Or maybe I’m too picky.  Yes, most definitely the latter.  Between my requirements and Lee’s separate set of requirements, I feel like we will not find anything anytime soon.  Baby steps.  The two pictures below are from Star Furniture; numero uno looks very similar to what we currently have {and also what I’m trying to get away from} while number two is three dollar signs on the $-$$$$ scale.  Sad face.

Obviously my old, overly dropped iPhone does not do either of these sofas any justice.  They really are much more appealing in person.  At the end of the day {literally not figuratively :)}, we’re still on the hunt for seating for the many guests we plan on having.  Hope you guys don’t mind bringing your own chairs!

Which brings us to Monday morning.  I’m still adjusting my morning routine to accommodate the hellish traffic in the morning.  I love my house, but goodness I would give my big toe just to not have to drive an hour into work.  For a Monday, I suppose it wasn’t too bad.  And to make my evening commute a little sweeter, I had a surprise phone call from one of my dearest friends.  It was just what I needed to finish off the work day.

Growing up, my dad had a Swiss Army watch that I loved.  He promised me one of my own for graduation and as usual, he pulled through.  I wore that watch for years, before he gave me one of his that he was retiring {code word for dad getting a fancier watch}.  Last spring, he upgraded yet again and passed on his second Swiss Army to me.  I wear one of these watches almost every day.

23, something old

Dinner is in the oven and boxed wine is calling my name!  I really am proud of myself for sticking with this for an entire week!
